Written years later
This was Anne’s first ride after Ruth’s birth. Her parents were in town, so we took advantage of the babysitters and went out. The climbing was rough, and we ended up turning back when we saw that we were going back down the other side (and would therefore need to climb back out).
A coworker, Yash, planned a group mountain bike outing in Santa Cruz, with rented bikes. My brother-in-law, Andrew, was in town visiting, so we dragged him along.
It was fun, but Anne doesn’t like the idea of singletracks, and I’m unlikely to do it alone or with other people. I guess I won’t be needing another bike after all.
