Davis City Loop, 2021 Edition

Ruth has been asking about doing another ride on her own bike for a while. We aren’t good at doing small things on the bike, we drove out to Davis for this ride.

We’re staying in a hotel tonight and doing a full ride tomorrow, so we didn’t have room in the van for two kid solo bikes. Max rode stoker on the tandem, in Ruth’s normal position. Ruth got her own.

Davis has a nice network of bike lanes, cycleways, overpasses, underpasses, and signals. There were a few sharp turns with poor visibility, but overall quite nice.

We did a similar ride a couple years ago, also with Ruth on a solo bike. She’s a lot stronger and more confident now.

Tomorrow we’re doing something closer to a regular ride. Unlike last time, we’re driving a bit in the morning to have more of the miles in the hills.

The weather forecast is for rain. We brought our rain gear, though I forgot to bring my front fender. This will be Ruth’s first rainy ride exposed on the tandem. It should be interesting.
