Max asked for a birthday bike ride. Ruth wanted to do a ride on her own bike, which gave us an excuse to let Max ride in the Hase trailer.
We’re still not very imaginative, but need to get miles in. So we went with a classic ride, the Mission loop.
We’ve done this ride a bunch, so there’s not a ton to say. We stopped for a snack at the Mission San Jose playground, as usual. We let the kids run around on the playground. Ruth made a friend, but we had to tear them apart to continue the ride.
Ruth was feeling helpful and pedaled for the short climbing sections. Everybody made appropriately excited noises for the big downhill. Max yelled a very cute “we’re going fast, Daddy!”
Then we crossed some highways and began heading back home. The wind can make the return less pleasant, but it stayed pretty calm today.
Although it isn’t the most exciting of routes, I had a nice ride.
We’re planning a short tour around the Fourth of July holiday. We haven’t really been doing a lot to prepare for it, but we realized we needed to get at least a little saddle time in.
